BEFORE & AFTER: Astrid Part 2

Everyone, here are more pictures from our Astrid project. Part 1 with living room snaps are here. As you may recall, this client just moved in and yearned for a functional yet playful space to meet the needs of their young and growing family.

DINING

In Singapore, it is rare to see a dedicated dining room of this footprint in an apartment. The room also is the first room you encounter as you enter the space. The practical considerations are also very important e.g. bench and somewhere to perch bags/keys etc. In the dining room,  many of the existing furniture pieces remained and we added soft fabric textures (blinds and side bench) and a statement lamp. The old down lights were removed and we added dimmable accent lighting which was cost effective and instantly lifts the space. (Dimmers are every designer's best friend!!) The client also enjoys vibrant & playful art so at SLI, we sourced from local and UK galleries, instantly adding drama and texture to the walls, lifting the mood and finishing the look. Art here feels effervescent and breezy, a total inspiration for this project. We created a play area and kids' table by the kitchen which allow the 2 young kids to stay close to Mum when she's off preparing meals in the adjacent kitchen.

Enjoy now! Till the next post:)
